Things to Bring
      Personal:
      
        - One  large bag with lock and key.  Pack for  airplane and van storage areas.
- ID  (birth certificate, voter reg., passport, or drivers license). As of Jan 1, 2008, you must now  have a CURRENT PASSPORT to  re-enter the United States of American from any foreign country. Copy of dental  license (for dentists/hygiene only).   HEALTH INSURANCE CARDS.  Keep  these on your person at all times.
- Slacks,  shirts, tennis shoes, regular shoes, sandals.   Swim suit/beach clothes for Sunday.   Casual church clothes (no suits or ties).  Scrubs for work hours only, not for border  times.  NO JEANS in the clinics.  Jeans do not communicate professionalism.
- Bible,  good book for free time. 
- Sleeping  bag, bunk bed sheets, blankets, pillow, soap, shampoo, washcloth, towels.  Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, hairdryer,  etc.  Suntan lotion.
- Small  flashlight with NEW batteries.  Headband  light for clinic use.
- Money  for souvenirs. Donations (clothes or toys)

It is imperative that we obtain all  items listed below before we leave Thursday. Students, you will want to bring  loupes and possibly a headlamp. Most of the following list is for dentists who  will be accompanying us.
      Hand instruments for cleaning: Anterior scaler, universal scaler, perio. probe, 
mouth mirrors, cotton gauze or rolls.  Self-curing sealants, battery
powered tooth polishing tool, floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste, fluoride,
peridex.
      Extraction  Instruments: Left and right posterior forceps (upper and lower), 
anterior forceps (upper and lower), bicuspid forceps upper and lower, 
hemostat and sutures, deans scissors, root picks, curettes, hemodent, blood 
pressure cuff and bell.
      Small  filling setup: Amalgamator, amalgam carrier, amalgam plugger, carver, 
explorer, mirror, etch, primer/bond, curing light,  bonding composite (self-
curing), miracle mix, IRM, glass ionomer, matrix bands, wedges, flowable 
composite, formocreosol, mixing pad, spatula, placement instruments.
      For  Portable Units: Slow speed (4 hole) and high speed (4 hole) handpieces, burrs 
(friction grip and latch), burr changer, polishing wheels, suction tips, 
air/water tips, prophy angle, prophy cups, brushed, paste.
      General  (for everyone): Head-light or snake light (get at home depot), mouth 
mirrors, explorers, cotton rolls, gauze, gloves, masks, glasses, sterilization 
liquid, anesthetic, syringes (intraligamentary and standard), needles, carpules, topical, cotton pliers, antibiotics, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Spanish translated dental instructions and witnessing literature.
      To be  bought at the border by T. Bob: Paper towels, distilled water, toilet paper, antibacterial 
soap, Lysol spray, Q-tips, rubbing alcohol, ice chests, ice, plastic cups, 
bottled water
      General Information to  all participants of the Mexico  mission trip:
       This itinerary and recommendations guide will serve as an  orientation for all participants.

      To the Doctors, please:
      
        Review all  needed equipment, tools, and supplies.        
        Package or  pack for air and van travel.
        If possible, plan to meet with your team members the week before travel to identify equipment and supplies.  Anything we do in advance makes it easier once we get there.
      
      To everyone, please:
      
        Review the  list of personal things to bring.  Check  off items as you pack them.
        Review the  time, day, and number of flight from Love Field.
        Take  special note of the rules by which we all agree to function. If concerns or disagreements with any one of the rules arise, please talk with T. Bob, Stephen Sperry, or Alex Rouse as soon as possible.
        Each participant must get their own airfare (best deals on the internet at www.southwest.com) and travel on the same flights as Dallas Group or Houston Group. Due to our Mexico schedule, no one can arrive after these two flights and participate.
        Southwest flight #201 Departing Thursday, March 4th at 6:30am, Leaving Dallas Love Field
Leaves Houston 8:05am
Arrives in Harlingen 9:10am
        Southwest flight #50 Departing Sunday, March 7th at 5:00pm, Leaving Harlingen
          Arrives Houston 6:00pm
          Arrives Dallas 7:30pm
        Passport must be current to go on trip. You cannot go without a CURRENT Passport.  Apply immediately for a new Passport since the process normally takes 8 weeks. 
Deadline for air is January 24, 2010.
        All checks are payable to Dr. T.  Bob Davis and must be turned into T. Bob, Stephen Sperry, or Alex Rouse before  Jan. 31st, 2010 Deadline.  ($350)  
        Remember the airline tells us that your ticket can be changed to another name or refunded up to 48 hrs. before the departure.  Any last minute change will be your responsibility.  NOTE:  expenses cover your ground transportation, all food, all lodging, and some needed disposable dental supplies, rentals and repairs of dentist portable equipment and preliminary set-up of trip costs.
